WorldFest was founded 50 years ago as Cinema Arts, an International Film Society in August, 1961. WorldFest became the third competitive international film festival in North America, following San Francisco and New York. WorldFest is the oldest Independent Film & Video Festival in the world. It is the festival that discovered Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Ang Lee, John Lee Hancock, Randall Kleiser, Ridley Scott, Robert Rodriguez, Robert Townsend, the Coen Brothers, Brian de Palma, Spike Lee, Oliver Stone and David Lynch with their very first awards. Adam Mackey won a Special Jury Remi award, the highest award for the category Religious/Spiritual/Ethical film or video for his 25-minute film ‘Le Saut De L’Ange’ (Angel’s Leap).
Le Saut De L'Ange was made by Adam and his crew in Corsica, France, with most of the dialogue in French. The story is written by Angelica Boncoeur. Adam directed and produced the film with his filmmaking company Trinity productions.
Set in the beautiful coastal town of Bonifacio in Corsica, the film focuses on a young man who becomes at odds with his angelic counterpart as he weaves a tangled web of misguided love involving two beautiful sisters and his best friend.
Adam attended the awards presentation along with over 500 filmmakers from 25 nations. Commenting on the event, Adam said, “It was a great surprise and honour to receive an award for the film. An opportunity to meet so many talented filmmakers at the festival was exciting and I’m so grateful for the wonderful efforts from our crew we had from 6 countries when making the film.”
